I am not doing much these days, if ‘doing’ means getting work things done as such. However, I am travelling, meeting family, seeing friends, going out, staying in all together, cooking, buying-making and wrapping presents…
So I guess I am doing loads at the end of the day. And overall and most important, I am being present every minute, whatever it is that I am doing. I am there, not thinking about anything else or wishing to be somewhere else instead. Being there 100% present is actually the best I have to offer. Sharing, listening, holding, laughing, genuinely asking & telling, enjoying.
None of this is work or maybe it is, if I give a twist to the quote below by Kahlil Gibran. I do believe that “work is love made visible” and that we “are the result of thousands of people’s love”, as the Sioux proverb reads.
This is the last post of the year. Next week’s will be the first one of a brand new year. Work with love and loving work, not a bad theme for 2013. 2012 has been the year of changes, adapting to new realities, making decisions, learning from decisions previously made, accepting life the way it is, recognising who I am and what I really want and sticking to it. So in 2013 the challenge is to follow the established path, reinforcing it. That will mean a great investment in terms of love & work. “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Confucius said.
My best wishes for the New Year will be work with love & love your work, whatever it is that you do. Love is the ultimate way. Love is what we are and what we look for all the time. Just be & love. Then everything will be just fine.
“Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy.” Kahlil Gibran
